Alcohol (either alcohol or ethanol) is a chemical substance found in spirits, beer and also distilled spirits which causes drunkenness. Ethanol is produced when yeast converts sugar to alcohol during the fermentation process of grapes, wheat and other grains. Distilled beverages have been altered through the process of maturation, where the sugar content and tannin are removed. Undistilled alcohol, on the other hand, contains no chemical substance and does not go through any change when it is created, thus it is simpler to measure and involves fewer steps during the process. Both alcoholic beverages have a similar composition, with a small percentage of ethanol and refined sugar.
Distilled alcohol is separated from its solids by passing through a distiller machine. Afterward, it goes through a second process where it is condensed into a pure form ready to be used. Alcohol dehydrates when placed in water or another hydroxyl group, resulting to the creation of alcohols known as ethanol and ethanolamines. There are three hydroxyl groups in every alcohol, and these groups differ from one another according to their size, molecular weight, and structure. Alcohol molecules are made up of two separate parts: a hydroxyl group and an aerosol. These parts are attached to each other through bonding agents which allow the alcohol molecules to join with other molecules. One of the most common and popular compounds contained in alcohols is ethanol, also known as ethylene oxide. The main component of this compound is hydrogen, followed by one oxygen and one nitrogen. This alcohol is highly useful in the production of biodiesel fuel and in chemical industry; therefore, it is very important that the industrial process of making alcohols is completed in the right way.
Another example of alcohol is beer, which, besides being consumed by people during their leisure time, has also been helpful in certain medical conditions. Medical studies have shown that beer can fight against infections such as influenza, HIV, hepatitis and bacteria; as well as lowering the levels of certain chemicals needed for body detoxification. Furthermore, beer has also been found to lower cholesterol levels, and prevent heart diseases and premature death. Many people choose to drink alcohol, or drink beer or wine for their social benefits; however, these drinks have harmful effects on the body. For instance, beer contains excessive amounts of calories, which can result in weight gain; and the high level of sugar in alcohol can cause diabetes.
There are also some organic compounds in alcohols that are not visible to the naked eye. These organic compounds are called Ethyl Ester, or Spring Water, found in alcoholic drinks and natural water. Ethyl Ester is said to be the simplest organic molecule, with one electron more than any other known, and therefore it is fragile and easily destroyed by harsh chemicals. In contrast, the carbon compounds in alcohols are more resistant to disintegration and easier to maintain as organic compounds. The alcohol used to make gin and vodka is distilled from a fermented plant called the yeast. The yeast used to ferment the wine is called Saccharomyces cerevisiae and does not contain any Ethyl Ester.
